Disney Honours Cameron Boyce by Dropping ‘Descendants 3’ Red Carpet
Disney has cancelled the forthcoming red carpet premiere of “Descendants 3” to honour the fallen star of Disney Channel Cameron Boyce. The company has also decided to commemorate Boyce and his work by donating to a charitable non-profit organisation that works to provide safe drinking water to communities in Africa.
The actor, who played Carlos de Vil in the “Descendants” films, died at the age of 20, due to a seizure while sleeping. As per his family, the cause of the seizure is said to be epilepsy. Boyce did not just have immense talent, but also wanted to work as a humanitarian, willing to make a difference.
Cameron Boyce was a part of various movies like Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2, Mirrors and Eagle Eye. He also participated in the historical series, Timeless Heroes_Be Inspired. He received a Daytime Emmy Award with Disney XD for Timeless Heroes_Be Inspired in 2018.
Boyce was honoured with Pioneering Spirit Award in 2018 for his humanitarian work with “Thirst Project”, whose main aim was to spread awareness regarding global water crisis. While working with the “Thirst Project”, he successfully raised $30,000 for the construction of two wells in Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland, increasing the reach of clean drinking water to the citizens of the region.
In the honour of Cameron Boyce, Disney channel made an announcement, “We’re proud to be part of Cameron Boyce’s legacy by showcasing his talents on screen but we are canceling the red carpet premiere event for ‘Descendants 3’ (scheduled for July 22) and instead, The Walt Disney Company will make a donation to the Thirst Project, a philanthropic organization to which Cameron was deeply committed.”
The statement further added, “He was an incredibly talented performer, a remarkably caring and thoughtful person and, above all else, he was a loving and dedicated son, brother, grandson and friend.”
Boyce in the last interview said, “There’s a long line of difference makers in my family. I’m following in the footsteps of some really strong men and women who have showed me what it means to give back; it’s the greatest way to fulfil yourself.”
While the world is shocked by an untimely death of Cameron Boyce, his friends, family and fans continue to remember him for his acting skills and his efforts to make a change in the world.
