With Exceeding Sales in UK, UAE, Nando’s Set to Offer Christmas Gift
Most loved South-African food chain, Nando’s has been winning hearts globally as sales crossed £1 billion for the first time. A major share of the increment is because of the love UK customers have for Peri Peri chicken by Nando’s. Driven by the UK growth, worldwide sales witnessed 8.4 percent jump besides South Africa.
According to the newly released Companies House accounts, UK sales, specifically rose by 7.9 percent to £779.4 for the year. As stated by the firm, UK pre-tax profits rose by 15 percent to £96 million over the period due to “increased sales and a restructuring of central costs”.
On the other hand, pumping money into the expansion has benefited Nando’s to the extent that global losses all over widened to 38.3 million from £36.1 million.
Before the end of this financial year, Nando’s plans to expand further in the UK by opening 31 more restaurants bringing its portfolio to 422 sites.
With respect to the impact of the UK exit from the European Union, the Portuguese food specialist stated it does not believe that it can “have a material impact” on the performance of the firm. In October, Nando’s launched the third Nino express format on Lavender Hill Battersea, as it continues to trial the new model having a streamlined food menu.
Even though the dining sector is having major challenges in the current scenario, Nando’s announced plans to open more sites at a similar rate and is confident about its growth plans in near future. Also, the firm is using smart ways to improve its business as it advertises on Netflix leading to a hike in the food delivery business in Dubai.
As stated by the Managing Director of Nando’s UAE, George Kunnappally, the existing delivery from Netflix accounts for up to 25 percent of the total business and is “slowly growing”. Nando’s has been working with delivery options Talabat and Zomato and tied up with Delivero in the past year.
Explaining the business strategy, Kunnappally said, “When we talk to our customers we feel that Netflix and online streaming, where you have the convenience of watching an entire series without leaving the comfort of your home, has encouraged more and more people to order in and that was not a phenomenon that we had to manage a few years ago.”
At a time when 2,000+ restaurants quit the Zomato app in a #Logout campaign in Gurugram, India, Nando’s continued its association with the aggregator. Kunnappally said, “When we talk to our customers we feel that Netflix and online streaming, where you have the convenience of watching an entire series without leaving the comfort of your home, has encouraged more and more people to order in and that was not a phenomenon that we had to manage a few years ago.”
In Q1 of 2019, Nando’s reported a hike in the delivery business in UAE.
Also, as a Christmas gift to food lovers, Nando’s has announced the comeback of its Peri-peri gravy, that it earlier removed from its menus. The much adored dinner gravy has been brought back on popular demand starting today.
