Porsche Taycan: Most Quintessential Electric Sports Car is Here
German automobile manufacturer Porsche is taking the company to new heights with its electric sports car Porsche Taycan, which was officially revealed on Wednesday. Since, the past four years, much has been said about the launch of this car that has been aggressively promoted and advertised all over.
It definitely is a car that can propel people to switch to using electric propulsion. The care has the vibe that is missing in Audi E-Tron, Jaguar I-Pace and Mercedes-Benz EQC.
Speaking about the car, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG Oliver Blume said, “The Taycan links our heritage to the future. It carries forward the success story of our brand – a brand that has fascinated and thrilled people the world over for more than 70 years.”
Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board of Porsche AG – Research and Development, stated, “We promised a true Porsche for the age of electro mobility – a fascinating sports car that not only excites in terms of its technology and driving dynamics, but also sparks a passion in people all over the world, just like its legendary predecessors have done. Now we are delivering on this promise.”
The world premier introduced the car in two high performance versions, the 670 horsepower Taycan Turbo and the 751 horsepower Taycan Turbo S.
The maximum horsepower figures of the car will be available only in an “Overboost” power mode for quick launches. The two electric motors, one driving the front wheels and one rear can produce nearly 617 horsepower on either model.
It is estimated that the Taycon Turbo can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just three seconds. The Turbo S, on the other hand can make this whooping run in just 2.6 seconds. The energy supplier for the two Taycan Turbos is a 93kWh battery pack weighing 1,389 pounds that is just a few pounds lighter than the existing version of Tesla’s Model X SUV.
To add to the magic that Porsche Taycan will create on the road, the battery packs have a quick charging capability. Both the variants used in Taycan take just 23 minutes to be charged from five percent to 80 percent, if chargers that can charge 270 kW are used.
Having five driving modes, Porsche Taycan will completely change the feel of driving for you. Apart from the basic, “Sport,” “Sport Plus,” and “Normal“ settings, this car will have a “Range” mode to maximise its energy efficiency.
The best news is the introduction of the “individual” mode that will help the driver adjust various settings according to their individual needs. There are no physical switches, knobs or gauges inside the car. Most of the controls are done using touch screens.
Keeping the sustainability motif in mind, the interiors of Porsche Taycan have been specially made leather-free and are completely recyclable.
